Lincoln Memorial

In 1838, Abraham Lincoln delivered an address before the Young Men’s Lyceum in Springfield, Illinois…”The Perpetuation of Our Political Institutions”.  In his speech he argued that Liberty in America could not exist without a reverence for laws…

Let every American, every lover of liberty, every well wisher to his posterity, swear by the blood of the Revolution, never to violate in the least particular, the laws of the country; and never to tolerate their violation by others. As the patriots of seventy-six did to the support of the Declaration of Independence, so to the support of the Constitution and Laws, let every American pledge his life, his property, and his sacred honor;–let every man remember that to violate the law, is to trample on the blood of his father, and to tear the character of his own, and his children’s liberty…

I am here to tell you today that Freedom from the bondage of sin…big or small…cannot exist without a reverence for Laws of the Word of God…

Hebrews 4:12-13…For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

Have you been saved by the Mighty Grace of Jesus Christ?  There is no sin that cannot be conquered by the blood of Jesus…no heart that cannot be set free by the Spirit of the Lord…

2Corinthians 3:17-18…
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
